ROAD MATCH AT MISSOURI BAPTIST ENDS IN 3-0 DEFEAT

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's volleyball suffered a 3-0 match defeat on the road to No. 12 Missouri Baptist on Friday night. Max Slaughter led the way for the Tigers with a team-high six kills and three digs.


ONU led early by taking two of the first three points. Missouri Baptist ran away with the first set from there proceeding to a 19-2 run. The Tigers conjured up a good spell of play towards the end by taking four of six points that included a Collier Kahaku Marquez service ace. The Spartans claimed the first set 25-8 after scoring the final three consecutive points.


MBU got out to a lead early taking five of the first seven points. ONU responded with a 5-2 run of their own with a pair of kills from Max Slaughter with assists credited to Eric Atkinson and Hunter DeMello. The Tigers hung around never trailing by more than five until a pair of Spartan service aces sparked a 9-3 run to close out the set 25-16.


Missouri Baptist carried the momentum from the second set into the third jumping out to a 7-1 lead. A kill from Garret Schad assisted by Atkinson stopped the leaking for a moment, but there was no stopping MBU. The Spartans strung together a 7-2 run followed by a 9-2 run to finish off the match.
