TIGERS TALLY WIN NO. 5 ON THEIR INAGURAL SEASON WITH ROAD VICTORY AT ROOSEVELT

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene men's volleyball team claimed their third win in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and their fifth win overall winning 3-1 over the Lakers of Roosevelt Tuesday night. Collier Kahaku Marquez led the way for the Tigers registering game-highs in kill percentage (.550), kills (13), service aces (3), and total blocks (4).


The opening set was closely contested which featured seven ties and neither team leading by more than three points. The Tigers pulled away at 21-17 going on an 8-1 run to take the early lead in the match. Kahaku Marquez got hot from the service line tallying all three of his aces for the contest within the Tiger run including the definitive service ace that ended the set 25-17.


The Lakers responded in the second set to even the score in the match. The Tigers led at 6-5 before RU went on a 6-1 run to take a lead they would not relinquish.


ONU dominated in the third set to re-claim the match advantage. James Ballance's service paved the way for a 10-1 run early. The Purple and Gold continued to put the pedal to the metal with a 5-2 run followed by a 5-0 run to finish the set 25-11.


The Lakers did not go down without a fight in the fourth set. Similar to the closely contested first, the set featured nine ties. A pair of Max Slaughter kills gave ONU the lead for good at 13-11. Kahaku Marquez scored the final three points for the win on the night 25-20.
