STRONG SECOND ROUND LIFTS ONU TO THIRD-PLACE FINISH AT RAIL TOURNEY

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's golf team took 17 strokes off their second round to earn a third-place finish at the two-day Conference Clash at the Rail tournament last weekend played at The Rail Golf Course.

After firing a 315 in Friday's round, the Tigers knocked 17 strokes off their score in Saturday's round to notch the tournament's second-best round at 298 and place third in the five-team meet. Missouri Baptist took the team crown with a winning score of 594.

Lorenzo Mariotti, the back-to-back defending CCAC Men's Golfer of the Week, led the way for the Tigers. The sophomore showcased his consistency with a 74-73 for a 3-over 147, earning him sole possession of third place.

Jordan Evans carded the team's best round of the tournament with an even-par 72 on Saturday to finish a 153 in a tie for ninth place. Chris Brown three strokes off his second round to shoot a 155 (79-76) and tie for 12th. Jack Busch rounded out the scoring with a 19th-place finish at 158 (81-77) while Hunter Trainor tied for 25th with a 164 (85-79).

The Tigers will take on their final regular-season tournament in the Spencer T. Olin Invitational next Monday and Tuesday at the Spencer T. Olin Golf Course in Alton, Ill.
