CHEN SHINES, TIGERS DROP MATCHES AGAINST MISSOURI BAPTIST

PARK FOREST, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's and women's track & field teams continued their strong indoor seasons when they hosted the Walter Cramer Invitational Friday evening in the Perry Center.

Women: Missouri Baptist 5, Olivet Nazarene 1

Chieh-Yu Chen had a stellar day on the court, picking up ONU's lone point in singles with a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 super tiebreaker win over MBU's Luana Luerrsen at the No. 2 match. She then teamed with Hailey Haws to pick up a 6-1 win in No. 2 doubles, but it wasn't enough as MBU took the doubles point with a forfeit at No. 3.

2 - Chieh-Yu Chen (ONU) def. Luana Luerrsen, 2-6, 6-3, 10-8
3 - Jocelynn Carmody (MBU) def. Rafaela Luna, 6-4, 7-5

1 - Gomez/Luerrson (MBU) def. Nieto/Luna, 6-3
2 - Haws/Chen (ONU) def. Azevedo/McIsaac, 6-1
3 - Vasiljkovic/Carmody (MBU) def. N/A, 1-0 forfeit

Men: Missouri Baptist 6, Olivet Nazarene 0

Despite being unable to pick up a win in singles, Chatton Haws and Paul Saleh came very close to picking up a win in their respective matches. Both players took the opening set, but ultimately fell in the super tiebreaker. Haws fell 6-3, 6-7, 7-10 in the No. 2 match and Saleh fell 6-4, 5-7, 9-11 at No. 3.

3 - Gomez/Saleh (ONU) def. Kzam/Mokkles, 6-4

The Tiger men will be back on the courts Saturday, Feb. 17 with a road match at Cornerstone. The women will take an extended break until April 6 when they open CCAC play at home against St. Ambrose.
