
TIGERS CONCLUDE ST. LOUIS ROADTRIP WITH LOSS TO MARYVILLE
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's volleyball concluded the weekend trip to St. Louis with a three-sets-to-none loss to NCAA Division II opponents Maryville. Max Slaughter registered double digits in kills for the fifth time this season with 10.
The Tigers in the first set held the 28-26 advantage in kills and tallied five blocks in the first set of the match. ONU committed seven hitting errors while the Saints hit at a clip of .346 percent attributed to Maryville winning the first set 25-16.
ONU turned out a better performance in the second set again totaling 28 attacks but again nine hitting errors hurt the Tigers. The Saints were more efficient with their hitting scoring .320 percent to ONU's .036 percent. Maryville took the last four points to take a 2-0 set lead in the match.
The third and final set was the closest of the match. Both teams totaled five blocks each. Maryville out hit the Tigers 36-29. Olivet had their cleanest set of the night committing only five hitting errors while the Saints registered nine. MU finished the contest on a 5-2 run with a pair of kills to overtake the ONU.
