EAGLES EDGE THE TIGERS IN FOUR SETS

ELGIN, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's volleyball jumped out to an early lead but lost three-straight sets to the Judson Eagle losing the afternoon match 3-1.  

ONU came from behind late in the first set to jump out to a 1-0 lead in the match. The Tigers trailed 23-20 before three kills from Sterling Staranchuk propelled the Purple and Gold to scoring five of the last six points ending the set.

The Eagles got on a roll taking the next three sets. Olivet did not go out quietly by forcing the fourth set into extra rallies. Max Slaughter's kill tied up the score 22-22 in the last set. The home side ended the day taking four of the last five points.

The Tigers outhit the Eagles in three of the four sets with the 123-117 advantage on the day. Slaughter led all hitters with 32 total attacks, his most since Jan. 29 versus Illinois Tech (36). Collier Kahaku Marquez tallied a team-best 16.0 points hitting at a .474 clip. James Ballance registered the most digs for ONU with 13 digs. The Libero has reached double figures in digs in seven of his last eight games. Hunter DeMello attributed 19 assists while Garrett Schad tacked on an additional 13.
