SIGNORINI CLAIMS MEDALIST HONORS AS TIGERS PLACE SECOND AT TRI-STATE INVITATIONAL

ASBURY, IowaBrando Signorini ran away from the field to claim medalist honors and help the Olivet Nazarene University men's golf team place runner-up at the 10-team Tri-State Invitational played Sunday and Monday at The Meadows Golf Course in Asbury, Iowa.

After firing a 74 in Sunday's round to finish the first round in third place, the freshman from Florence, Italy carded a 71 on Monday to take down the event. His 1-over 145 placed him two shots better than the tournament runner-up.

Jack Busch took seven strokes off his second round to finish with a 157 (82-75) and tie for 11th place. Chris Brown was a shot back after carding consecutive 79s to earn sole possession of 13th place. Jack Rimington and Lorenzo Mariotti both tied for 19th overall. Rimington fired consecutive 81s and Mariotti started with an 87 before bouncing back with a 75 to each reach 162.

As a team, the Tigers finished with a 616 (316-300) to finish runner-up. They were just eight strokes shy of familiar foe St. Ambrose, who won the tournament with a team score of 608 (309-299).

The Tigers will next compete in the two-day Battle at Blackthorn on Sept. 29-30 at the Blackthorn Golf Club in Mishawaka, Ind.
