PRECISION SCORING LIFTS ONU OVER IU-NW

CROWN POINT, IN. - In a pulsating encounter, Olivet Nazarene University's men's soccer team emerged victorious on the road against Indiana University - Northwest with a final score of 3-2 on Saturday at Crown Point Sportsplex.

 

First Half: A Tale of Quick Responses

The game kicked off with a bang as IUNW drew first blood in the 6th minute. However, ONU quickly found their footing, and in the 19th minute, senior midfielder Elias Nonnenmann delivered a sublime goal, assisted by sophomore midfielder Ali Sillah, leveling the score at 1-1. Just moments later, senior defender Nick Kilian capitalized on the momentum, scoring in the same 19th-minute mark, giving ONU a 2-1 lead. IUNW struck back with their second goal in the 27th minute, setting the score at 2-2 as the first half ended with both teams locked in a heated battle. 

 

Second Half: Kilian Strikes Again

The second half witnessed intense back-and-forth action as both teams vied for supremacy. The Tigers maintained their resolute defense while launching calculated attacks. In the 59th minute, Kilian once again found the back of the net, extending the Tigers' lead to 3-2. ONU's defense held strong, frustrating IUNW's attempts to mount a comeback. But ONU held firm, securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

 

Looking Ahead

Looking forward, the Tigers are excited and ready to tackle their upcoming challenges, building on the momentum from this remarkable win. ONU is set to face off against Governors State University on Sept. 26th at Crown Point Sportsplex. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. CST.
