TIGERS DROP CONFERENCE OPENER AGAINST CALUMET

WHITING, IN. – Olivet Nazarene University's men's volleyball suffered a tough loss in their conference opener, falling to the Crimson Wave of Calumet St. Joseph in straight sets on the road on Monday.

Despite a strong showing throughout the match, the Tigers were unable to overcome a late surge by the Crimson Wave in each set. ONU kept things close in the first set, but Calumet St. Joseph pulled away down the stretch to take a 1-0 lead. The second and third sets followed a similar pattern, with the Tigers staying close but ultimately falling short.

While the loss stings, there were bright spots for the Tigers. Freshman Brody McAfee led the team with eight kills, while Cade Ooms added six kills and 1 block. Tomas Gonzalez dished out 27 assists, and senior libero James Ballance led the defensive effort with eight digs.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will look to regroup as they hit the road for their next conference match against the Roosevelt Lakers on Mar. 5th. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CST.
