ONU CLAIM 15TH CONFERENCE WIN ON THE SEASON DEFEATING TRINITY CHRISTIAN

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene women's basketball team picked up their 15th win in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play Saturday afternoon at Trinity Christian. Zanna Myers led all scorers with 19 points along with four steals and four assists. Caroline Boehne tallied her ninth double-double of the year with 18 points and 15 rebounds.  

ONU jumped out to an early lead going on a 15-2 run that spanned 3:24 in the first quarter. Three-pointers from Zanna Myers, Maggie Cora, and Karina Smits built a 22-8 advantage at the 3:34-mark in the first period. The Tigers tossed up 27 shot attempts to the Trolls 16. Olivet held a 26-16 lead after 10 minutes played.

With under five minutes to play in the second quarter, Smits made a three-point bucket on the offensive end of the floor followed by swiping a steal on the defensive end leading to an Avery Curry three on the fast break. Alayha Allen came off the bench providing four points, a steal, and a rebound in three minutes played for the quarter. ONU continued to build on their lead outscoring Trinity 23-17 for the quarter. Olivet went into the locker room leading by 16 points


Halftime: Olivet Nazarene 49, Trinity Christian 33

Out of the break, the Tigers shut down the home team only allowing TCC to score seven points in the third quarter. Trinity Christian was forced into 11 turnovers with five different ONU players recording a steal. Myers and Olivia Demosthenes got to line to combine for six points from the charity stripe without missing. Smits tacked on an additional eight points with two made threes. The visitors headed to the final quarter up 75-40.

Zanna Myers dropped in a three-point basket in the first possession to kick off the fourth quarter. Boehne scored six points with two additional rebounds to complete the double-double on the day. Anne Peters returned after a short injury stint to hit three-ball before time expired. ONU proceeded to claim victory leading by 39 points.
