AZZAM AND SCHMIDLI LIFT TIGERS TO 2-1 WIN AT HOLY CROSS

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Olivet Nazarene University's (ONU) men's soccer team secured a 2-1 win on the road against Holy Cross College on Tuesday. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead with two first-half goals and held off a late push from the Saints to claim another conference victory.

ONU got off to a quick start, with Mounir Azzam finding the back of the net in the sixth minute, assisted by Carter Beckman. The Tigers doubled their lead in the 21st minute when Nathan Schmidli connected on a pass from Azzam to put ONU up 2-0. ONU continued to press, creating several more scoring opportunities, but the first half closed with the Tigers maintaining their two-goal advantage.

The Saints responded in the second half, pulling one back in the 53rd minute to narrow the score to 2-1. ONU's defense then buckled down, weathering Holy Cross's attempts to equalize. The Tigers held firm, withstanding late pressure to preserve the 2-1 win and secure three valuable points on the road.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will return home for a conference match against the Cougars of Saint Xavier University on Oct. 16th, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CST. ONU will aim to build on their recent success and continue climbing the conference standings.
