TIGERBALL BOW OUT OF THE CCAC TOURNAMENT AT IUNW

GARY, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball program exits the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament following an 89-73 semifinal defeat to the second-seeded IU Northwest RedHawks. The Tigers finished 20-9 overall and 16-4 in the conference. Caroline Boehne finishes the night with 21 points to lead the team.

The Tigers started the game strong with a 14-4 run featuring Boehne, Khendel Rolison, and Madison Smith hitting back-to-back-to-back three-point buckets. This run built an 18-9 lead 6:16 into the first quarter. ONU hit five threes with Rolison responsible for two of them in the opening 10 minutes. They shot at a 41.7 percent clip from beyond the arc and held the opposition to just one made three-point basket. IUNW would get the free-throw line 10 times converting eight tries that would cut the lead to three heading into the second quarter.

The RedHawks would regain the lead with a 6-0 run in the opening 1:29. The scoring burst put the RedHawks ahead and forced Lauren Glenn to call a timeout. The home team would not let up expanding their lead to 39-25 following a 14-0 run. Olivet would suffer a 5:04 scoring drought and was held to only five points scored for the quarter resulting in a 41-27 deficit heading into halftime.

Despite the offensive struggles, Boehne provided consistent scoring all night. The graduate forward led in the stat category for each quarter outside of the fourth where she trailed Olivia Dirkse by a point. The Tigers' bench provided 33 points as Dirkse and Rolison poured in nine each. Anne Peter also provided a spark accounting for seven.

In the end, the 14-point halftime deficit was too much for the Purple and Yellow-Gold to overcome. The RedHawks never led their advantage dip below 12 points for the rest of the night icing the game from the free-throw line making 28 of their 31 tries.
