ONU CLAIMS VICTORY ON THE ROAD AGAINST CALUMET

EAST CHICAGO, IN. - In a stunning display of skill and teamwork, Olivet Nazarene University's men's soccer delivered an outstanding performance, clinching a resounding 10-0 victory on the road against Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday at East Chicago High School. 

 

First Half: A Quick Start

The match opened with both teams looking to make their mark and assert dominance on the pitch. The first goal came in the 15th minute when senior midfielder Holden Devore found the back of the net with a clinical finish, giving ONU an early lead.

Seven minutes later, senior defender Nick Kilian followed suit in the 22nd minute, doubling their advantage. The first half ended with ONU firmly in control.

 

Second Half: ONU Extends Their Lead

The second half witnessed ONU's relentless pursuit of victory. In the 35th minute, senior defender Sumani Husseini converted a penalty kick, further solidifying ONU's lead. Husseini then capitalized on another opportunity to find the back of the net in the 53rd minute of play. An own goal by the Crimson Wave in the 58th minute compounded their woes. The Tigers quickly continued their scoring spree with Husseini securing his third goal of the match, brilliantly assisted by Killian also in the 58th minute.

As the match progressed, ONU's depth and skill became even more evident. Freshman midfielder Josh Mariotti added to the tally in the 74th minute, followed by freshman defender David Tschupp in the 76th minute, and freshman forward Landon Porch converting a penalty kick in the 78th minute.

The final goal of the match came in the 83rd minute when sophomore midfielder Luca Swinton etched his name into the scorecard as he found the back of the net. Swinton's goal was the icing on the cake, putting the game well beyond reach for the Crimson Wave and sealing a well-deserved win for ONU. 

 

Looking Forward

With the confidence gained from this resounding 10-0 victory against Calumet, the Tigers eagerly sets their sights on the next challenge. ONU is set to face St. Ambrose at home in front of Tiger fans on Sept. 20th at Snowbarger Athletic Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
