ONU BOWS OUT OF THE CCAC TOURNAENT FALLING TO SAU

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball team bows out of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament following a 5-3 loss at the hands of the Saint Ambrose Fighting Bees Friday morning. The Tigers finish the season with an overall record of 24-26 and a conference record of 14-13.

ONU was the first team to put up runs on the scoreboard scoring twice in the second inning. Jack Dupuis was hit by a pitch followed by a drawn walk from Kai Hudson with the bases loaded pushing two runs across Homeplate.

The Tigers executed a relay throw from left field, to the shortstop, to the Homeplate preventing SAU from scoring their first run of the game. The play at the plate was the third out of the inning getting the Tigers out of the third inning unscathed. Ethan Underwood kept the Fighting Bees scoreless for the first three and one-third innings before St. Ambrose scored four runs in the fourth. The senior starting pitcher lasted four innings giving up six hits, four earned runs, and three walks while striking out two batters.

Donovan Yelle cut the deficit to one run in the seventh inning. The centerfielder singled down the right field line to score Hudson from second base. SAU stretched the lead back to two runs the following inning as a sacrifice bunt made it a 5-3 ballgame. From there, the Fighting Bee's pitching staff locked it down recording the final six outs and ending the contest.

THANK YOU, SENIORS

We would like to congratulate the 2023 senior class on a tremendous career at Olivet. Many of which contributed heavily to the many recent seasons of success for the program including three CCAC Tournament Championships, two CCAC Regular Season Championships, and three appearances in the NAIA National Tournament. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Good luck on all of your future endeavors.
