ONU CLINCHES REGULAR SEASON TITLE WITH WIN AGAINST VITERBO

BOURBONNAIS, IL. - In a thrilling last regular season game, Olivet Nazarene University's men's soccer team emerged victorious with a 1-0 win against Viterbo University at their home ground on Saturday. This pivotal victory solidified their claim as the regular season champions.

First Half: Tigers Show Dominance

The first half of the match was marked by an intense battle for control between ONU and Viterbo. Both sides displayed tremendous energy and determination, with several near-miss opportunities. The Tigers' defense remained resolute, not allowing the visitors to break through.

Despite the early tension, ONU's skillful ball movement and possession control began to pay off as they found more openings in Viterbo's defense. The halftime whistle blew with the score still at 0-0, but the Tigers were far from discouraged.

Second Half: Nonnenmann Seals the Deal

The second half began with the Tigers coming out of the locker room with a clear mission: to clinch the regular season title. Their determination paid off in the 54th minute when senior midfielder Elias Nonnenmann made a brilliant run and, with an exquisite assist from senior defender Nick Kilian, struck the ball into the back of the net.

Following the goal, the Tigers maintained their composure and continued to control the tempo of the game. Viterbo attempted to mount a comeback, but ONU's defense was unyielding, thwarting every attempt to equalize.

Looking Ahead

With the regular season title under their belts, the Tigers are now eagerly looking ahead to the upcoming postseason challenges.
