ONU CLAIMS VICTORY ON SENIOR NIGHT AGAINST VITERBO

BOURBONNAIS, IL. - In a thrilling showdown on Saturday night, Olivet Nazarene University's women's soccer team came out victorious in their final regular season game and Senior Night, beating Viterbo University with a score of 2-1.

 

First Half: A Fast Start

The Tigers wasted no time in asserting their dominance, taking the lead just three minutes into the match. Senior midfielder Keeley Francis, with a precision pass by junior midfielder Alaina Bahr, found the back of the net, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

Viterbo, however, showed their resilience and managed to equalize in the 31st minute. The competition intensified, and the Tigers had to recalibrate their strategy as they entered halftime tied at 1-1.

 

Second Half: Dela Vega Clutches The Win

The second half witnessed a magnificent display of teamwork and resilience from the Tigers. With an unwavering spirit and a hunger for victory, they pressed on, determined to send their seniors off with a memorable win.

In the 74th minute, junior forward Hannah Dela Vega, with a crucial assist from senior defender Abbey Cash, scored the game-winning goal. The Tigers pulled ahead, now leading 2-1.

The ONU defense stood strong, thwarting Viterbo's attempts to equalize in the closing minutes of the match. The final whistle marked a well-deserved victory for the Tigers.

 

Looking Ahead

Fueled by their recent victory, the Tigers are now primed for the postseason. Excitement is palpable as they gear up to face Judson University at Snowbarger Athletic Complex on Nov. 4th at 4:00 p.m. CST.
