ONU COMES FROM BEHIND TO EARN DRAW AGAINST USF

BOURBONNAIS, IL. – Olivet Nazarene University's women's soccer team engaged in a fiercely contested match against the University of St. Francis on Saturday, culminating in a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Snowbarger Athletic Complex.

First Half: USF Strikes First

The opening half of the match saw both teams fiercely competing for control of the game. The Fighting Saints made an early statement by breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute, putting ONU on the back foot. Despite several promising attacking opportunities, the Tigers struggled to find the net in the first half. USF's solid defense and quick counter-attacks kept them ahead, leaving ONU with a challenging task for the second half.

Second Half: ONU's Late Equalizer

As the second half got underway, ONU intensified their efforts to mount a comeback. The pressure finally paid off in the 85th minute when junior defender Hannah Dela Vega found the back of the net and equalized the score. The play was orchestrated beautifully, with freshman midfielder Aaliyah Racadio-Kahoohanohano providing a crucial assist.

Despite both teams pushing for a game-winner in the remaining minutes of regulation and overtime, neither could find the decisive goal. The match concluded with a 1-1 scoreline.

Looking Ahead

As the Tigers reflect on this hard-fought draw, they are eager to channel the momentum gained from their late equalizer into their next game. ONU faces off against Holy Cross College on Oct. 3rd at Snowbarger Athletic Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
