TIGERBALL’S HOT SHOOTING LIFTS THEM OVER BEES IN FIRST HOME WIN

BOURBONNAIS, IL. - In a thrilling conference matchup against St. Ambrose University, Olivet Nazarene University's women's basketball team clinched a decisive 105-78 victory in their first home win of the season.

The opening quarter saw Olivet Nazarene University setting the tone with a commanding 10-point run, immediately putting St. Ambrose on the defensive. ONU's tenacious defense stifled their opponents, allowing them to finish the quarter with a comfortable lead, boasting a score of 31-18.

The second quarter saw ONU building on their momentum, with sophomore guard Olivia Dirkse leading the charge with three consecutive layups and a crucial free throw, contributing to a 7-point run. ONU's sharpshooting from beyond the arc further solidified their advantage, as they drained two consecutive three-pointers to maintain a 26-point lead. The Tigers' impressive efforts culminated in a commanding 63-30 halftime score. 

Entering the third quarter with confidence, ONU displayed their sharpshooting skills with a three-pointer courtesy of sharpshooter Dirkse. St. Ambrose, attempting a resurgence, found themselves constantly thwarted by the Tigers' unwavering defense. The quarter concluded with ONU standing tall at 84-51.

In the final stretch, St. Ambrose mounted a commendable effort, but ONU remained unyielding. The Tigers, determined to leave an indelible mark, unleashed a barrage of three-pointers, leaving their opponents in the dust. The victory was sealed with a decisive 105-71 score.

 

What's Next

This victory marks a significant milestone for ONU, securing their first home win of the season. The Tigers now have their sights on their next challenge. ONU will travel to Elgin, IL where thy will take on Judson University on Dec. 2nd. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. CST.
