
ONU UPENDS CALUMET 110-58 ON THE ROAD
WHITING, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene women's basketball team won their fourth straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) game on the road against Calumet St. Joseph 110-58 Wednesday night. Reigning CCAC Player of the Week, Caroline Boehne earned her seventh double-double of the year, her second in consecutive games.
ONU's Khendel Rolison began the night by banking in her first three-point attempt of the night sparking a 7-0 run. The Tigers would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the contest. Madison Smith converted a three-ball at 1:35 in the first quarter to extend the lead to 10. Boehne ended the period with a jump shot with only 38 seconds left before the first official break to hold the 22-10 advantage. Karina Smits set the tone offensively early making two of her first three-point buckets in only two minutes of play.
Jamie Finn exploded for 11 points in three minutes of play in the second quarter. Finn packed the stat sheet with five rebounds and a steal off the bench. In the first five minutes of the period, the Tigers rattled off a 14-0 run. ONU shot a blistering 53.8 percent from beyond the three-point arc making seven threes as a team. Nine different players scored in the quarter and three players poured in five or more. Olivet held a 36-point lead going into halftime.
Halftime: Olivet Nazarene 58, Calumet St. Joseph 22
Calumet had their best stretch of play out of the locker room scoring 20 points in the third quarter, their best point total in a single period for the contest. This came by the Crimson Wave shooting 52.6 percent from the floor. Despite the CCSJ boost offensively, ONU still turned the hosts over 11 times and shoot 45.8 percent from the floor. The Tigers still outscored Calumet 32-20 making five threes to increase their lead for a third straight quarter.
Olivet Nazarene's bench closed out the game scoring 14 of their 20 points in the final quarter. Avery Curry tallied five points with Maggie Cora tacking on four. The Tigers out-rebounded the Crimson Wave in each period that resulting in a 56-35 advantage for the game. ONU assisted on 25 of their 39 total baskets. Kaitlyn Clark and Kennedy Johnson each doled out six assists.
