MARSHALL HAS A CAREER NIGHT AS ONU TOPS CJSU 110-38

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball program ran away to a 110-38 win over the Crimson Wave of Calumet St. Joseph Wednesday night in McHie Arena. Brooklyn Marshall stepped into a starting role for the first time as a freshman and registered her first double-double, setting season-highs in points (24) and rebounds (14). The Tigers improved to 23-0 all-time against CJSU.

 

The 6-1 forward from Metamora, Ill. filled in for Caroline Boehne who was out with an illness. Marshall led all scorers pouring in 16 points in the second half. She shot 11-15 from the floor and stacked the stat sheet with four steals and two assists. Marshall grabbed nine of her 14 boards on the offensive end of the floor.


ONU held a 65-41 advantage in the rebound category. The Tigers crashed the offensive glass to reel in 46 offensive boards leading to 28 second-chance points. Alayha Allen led the charge as she snagged 10 offensive rebounds to lead the team. 14 of the 15 players recorded one or more offensive rebounds in the game.

 

Along with Marshall, three other Tigers scored in double figures. Maggie Cora scored all of her 14 points in the first half. Madison Smith set a career-high with 12 points. The sophomore went through a stretch in the third quarter making four threes without missing. Bett O'Neal finished the night with 11 points with four assists, four steals, and 7 rebounds. The Tiger's bench totaled 46 points to Calumet's two.

 

Olivet forced the Crimson Wave to turn the ball over 49 points from 33 steals. Cora set a new career-high with seven swipes. O'Neal, Marshall, and Allen each tallied four steals. The Tigerball pressure led to 54 points off turnovers and 33 fast break points.
