HOWARD LEADS ONU TO VICTORY AT HOME SPRING TIGER INVITE

ST. ANNE, Ill.Lizzie Howard ran away from the field to claim medalist honors and lead the Olivet Nazarene University women's golf team to a tournament victory at their home Spring Tiger Invite played at Kankakee Elks Country Club Friday and Saturday.

After firing an 83 in Friday's round to finish the first round in a tie for fourth place, the reigning CCAC Freshman of the Year carded an 82 on Saturday to take down the event. Howard's 165 final score placed her three strokes better than the tournament runner-up.

Howard's first-place finish led a trio of Tigers inside the top five this weekend. Mara Bakke earned sole possession of fourth place with a 169 (84-85) and Alexandria Jones took a stroke off her second round to card a 171 (86-85) and tie for fifth place. Faith Dalton rounded out the ONU scoring with a 10th-place finish at 175 (88-87). Mya Jones also had a strong second round, improving by nine shots to place 19th.

As a team, the Tigers finished with a 680 (341-339) to win their home event. ONU finished five strokes better than the tournament runner-up Grace College.
