THE NO. 19 TIGERS EARN 20TH WIN OF THE SEASON AT CCSJ

WHITING, Ind. – The No. 19 Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball team wins its eighth straight game as they traveled to the Rittenmeyer Center and defeated the Crimson Wave of Calumet St. Joe, 105-70. 

 

The Tigers start the game on a 9-2 run, highlighted by a three by Caleb Swearingen.  The Crimson Wave kept the game close in the first seven minutes of the game until the Tigers started to go on a run.  At 14-11, Tyler Schmidt and Alex Gross marked jumpers while Caleb Corro buried a three to make the score 21-11.  After a Calumet jumper, Schmidt added another three to extend the Tiger lead to 24-13.  With a little under seven minutes left, Barik Olden hit a three and Schmidt made a field goal to extend the lead to 15 at 40-25.

 

Schmidt and Corro drained jumpers for the Tigers to close the first half as ONU took a 53-35 lead going into the locker room.

Schmidt and Griffin Andricks kicked off the scoring for the Tigers in the second half making the score 57-39.  The Crimson Wave cut the Tigers lead to 59-43 until Andricks and Olden marked the next nine ONU points and grew the lead to 68-47. The Tigers kept putting the pressure on Calumet throughout the second half and never let them close the gap.  At 77-54, The Tigers went on a 17-0 run over the next five minutes of the game.  During that stretch, Corro dropped in seven points and Braydon Flagg tallied four points. 

 

In the waning seconds of the game, James Owen and Logan McCann sent in buckets as the Tigers win their 16th game over Calumet all-time, 105-70.
