ONU TAKES THIRD AT HOME SPRING TIGER INVITE

ST. ANNE, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's golf team continued its 2023-24 spring season at their home course when they hosted the Spring Tiger Invite Friday and Saturday at the Kankakee Elks Country Club.

The Tigers posted a team score of 311 Friday before taking six strokes off with a 305 Saturday to finish at 616 and claim third place at the eight-team event. Parkland College took the team crown with a winning score of 598.

Lorenzo Mariotti, the defending CCAC Golfer of the Week, led the way for the Tigers. The Italian sophomore carded the team's best round with a 73 Friday followed by a 77 Saturday to notch a 6-over 150 and a tie for third place.

Hunter Trainor nearly cracked the top 10, carding a 154 (78-76) to earn a tie for 11th place. Jordan Evans took seven strokes off his second round to card a 155 (81-74) and tie for 15th, while Jack Busch showcased his consistency with 79-78 to finish at 157. Jack Rimington finished with a 167 (85-82).

ONU also fielded a second team at their home meet. Chris Brown (79-83) finished with a 162, Tyler Balthazor (84-83) shot a 167, and Darrell Ramos (85-91) fired a 176.

The Purple & Yellow Gold will now host the Rail Tournament at the Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Ill., April 5-6.
