RV ONU WINS SEVENTH STRAIGHT CCAC CONTEST DEFEATING ROOSEVELT IN THE WINDY CITY

CHICAGO—The RV Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball team traveled into the Windy City for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest against the Lakers of Roosevelt inside the Goodman Center on Wednesday evening.

 

The Lakers started the first half scoring the first five points until Alex Gross spearheaded a 9-0 run for the Tigers as they took a 9-5 lead.  The Tiger big man marked five of the nine points scored. After the Lakers cut the Tiger lead to 15-14, Landon Pflederer nailed a pair of threes to make the score, 21-14. The Lakers then went on a 7-3 run until Cade Chitty made a field goal making the score, 26-21.

 

After Roosevelt deadlocked the game at 26, Gross and Tyler Schmidt put the Tigers back on track and combined for the next 10 ONU points making the score, 36-26.  The Tigers ended up taking a 41-31 advantage into the break.  Gross led the Tigers with 15 points and six boards.

In the second half, the Tigers started to pull away from the Lakers.  At 44-35, ONU went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by a three by Barik Olden.  The Tigers led 51-35.  Schmidt then accounted for the next five points as the Tigers led 56-37.  The Tigers continued to put the pressure on the Lakers.  At 60-45, Gross, Swearingen, and Olden tallied the next nine points and grew the ONU lead to 69-45. 

 

Griffin Andricks and Caleb Corro scored field goals down the stretch as the Tigers win their seventh straight CCAC contest, 81-65.
