ONU CONTINUES STRONG START WITH RUNNER-UP FINISH AT RAIL TOURNAMENT

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's golf team continued its strong start to the spring season with a runner-up finish at the two-day Conference Clash at the Rail tournament played at The Rail Golf Course.

Alexandria Jones tied for second place overall to lead a trio of Tigers in the top 10. The senior from Bloomingdale, Ill., fired an 84 Friday followed by an 85 Saturday to card a 169, finishing just one stroke behind the tournament winner. Mara Bakke fired ONU's best round of the tournament on Saturday, knocking six strokes off her second round with an 82 to place fourth with a 170. Lizzie Howard also improved her second round with an 88-87 to card a 175 and take seventh.

Mya Jones and Faith Dalton nearly cracked the top 10 with 11th and 12th place finishes, respectively. Jones shot 96-94 for a 190 while Dalton shot a 96-99 for a 195.

After firing a 356 on the first round, ONU took eight strokes off their second round to finish with a 704 and place runner-up out of four teams. John A Logan University took the team title with a 692.

The Tigers will take on their final regular-season tournament in the Spencer T. Olin Invitational next Monday and Tuesday at the Spencer T. Olin Golf Course in Alton, Ill.
