NO. 19 ONU DROPPED HIGHEST POINT TOTAL OF THE SEASON IN WIN OVER CCSJ

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The No. 19 Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball team hosted the Crimson Wave of Calumet College of St. Joe on Monday night inside McHie Arena.  The Tigers took down the Crimson Wave, 117-61. 

 

The Tigers begun the game on a 14-0 run.  Landon Pflederer drained a three and Alex Gross dropped four points during that stretch.  After a Crimson Wave field goal, Barik Olden and Gross made field goals making the score, 18-2. At 20-4, back-to-back threes and a dunk by Tyler Schmidt made the score, 28-4.  After the Crimson Wave scored their 11th point of the game at 40-11, Schmidt sparked an 8-2 run.  The Tigers extended their lead to 48-14.  The Tigers continued to dominate the half and they led, 57-20.  Schmidt led the Tigers with 18 points and Gross followed with 14 points and seven boards.

Schmidt, Olden, and Griffin Andricks kicked off the scoring for the Tigers at the beginning of the second half.  ONU led 63-26.  At 66-31, Gross led a Tiger 8-2 run and grew the lead to 75-33.  The Tigers continued to pace play in the second half as they led 83-42 with 10 minutes left in the game.  Caleb Corro provided some good minutes for the Tigers during that stretch.  With under six minutes left, at the score 94-49, Caleb Swearingen and Andricks made threes and made the score, 100-51. 

 

The Tigers saw some good production from off the bench from Gabe Renchen, David Krumsieg, Braydon Flagg, Jake Brown, and Logan McCann as the Tigers defeated the Crimson Wave, 117-61.

The No. 19 Tigers have a quick turnaround as they host the Eagles of Judson University on Wednesday, February 9th inside McHie Arena.  Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
