ALL FIVE RV ONU STARTERS HIT DOUBLE-DIGIT TOTALS IN WIN OVER GOVERNORS STATE

UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. – The RV Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball team won its 10th victory of the season as they downed the Jaguars of Governors State University, 89-56, on Saturday afternoon. 

 

Landon Pflederer, Tyler Schmidt, and Alex Gross produced the early scoring for the Tigers in the first half and led, 7-4. Neither the Tigers nor the Jaguars took control of the game until 13-and-a-half minutes in the half.  Plfederer sparked a 7-0 Tiger run making the score, 18-12. After the Jaguars cut the Tiger lead to three at 27-24, Cade Chitty and Pflederer combined for the next eight Tiger points as they extended their lead to 35-26. The Jaguars fought back and only trailed the Tigers by six at 37-31 at the half.  Pflederer and Schmidt led the Tigers with 11 points each. 

 

Gross and Caleb Swearingen kicked off the scoring for the Tigers in the second half, combining for the first five points making the score, 42-36.  Then, Schmidt, Gross, and Pflederer led an 18-2 Tiger run which made the score, 60-38.  Schmidt, Swearingen, and Pflederer each buried a three-ball.  The Tigers kept the momentum going as they saw production from Griffin Andricks and Jake Brown down the stretch. 

 

The all five ONU starters recorded double-digit totals as the Tigers defeated the Jaguars, 89-65.
