UNDERWOOD PITCHES COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT AS ONU SPLITS DAY 2 AT GEORGETOWN (KY.)
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Olivet Nazarene University Tiger Baseball team began the day with a 2-0 win via a complete-game shutout performance from Ethan Underwood followed by a 6-3 loss to Georgetown to conclude the three-game series. ONU is now 7-12 on the year after going 1-3 in Kentucky.
Game Two: Olivet Nazarene 2, Georgetown (Ky.) 0
Ethan Underwood starred for the Purple and Gold pitching a complete-game shutout. The right-handed junior out of Woodstock, Ga. faced 24 batters conceding just three hits, no walks, and striking out four. GC's lead-off man singled in the first inning before Underwood proceeded to retire 13 consecutive batters and record his third win of the campaign.
The Tigers did all of their damage on the scoreboard in the second inning. Gunnar Pullins and Ryan Russman both reached base via Georgetown fielding errors. Jack Springer put the ball into play to advance the runners into scoring position followed by Kai Hudson's single and Jacob Bulthuis' sacrifice bunt to take the two-run lead.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, GC threatened by putting a man on first and second with one out, and the winning run was brought to the plate. Underwood escaped the jam registering a strikeout and forcing a pop-up for the last two outs of the contest.
Game Three: Georgetown (Ky.) 6, Olivet Nazarene 3,
GC quickly built a lead scoring four unearned runs in the first two innings. ONU answered in the fourth as Ryan Russman's single scored Nolan Louis. In the same inning, Tyler Wheeler was quick to cross home on a passed ball opportunity to cut the deficit to two. Georgetown regained its four-run advantage by scoring a run in the sixth and eighth innings. Olivet began to brew a rally in the bottom of the ninth by loading the bases. Robert Jackman beat out a throw to first base to score Jordan Almodovar and bring the go-ahead run to the plate. A ground out to shortstop ended the contest with a final score of 6-3.

- Ryan Russman registered an RBI in back-to-back days to bring his season total to 10.
- Ethan Underwood's ERA falls to 2.61 after his performance with opposing batters hitting .183 against the right-hander.
- Jacob Bulthuis tallied his sixth RBI of the year while Kai Hudson had his fourth.
