TIGER WIN TWO GAMES OVER THE TROLLS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball team won both games in a Friday afternoon doubleheader with the Trolls of Trinity Christian. ONU won by a combined score 26-2 and hitting at a clip of .403 as a team. Jacob Bulthuis and Kai Hudson each drove in five runs on the day.


GAME 1: ONU 17, TCC 1

Trinity Christian struck first hitting a solo home run in the first inning. Kai Hudson tied the game up in his first at-bat to bring home Nolan Louis. The Tigers proceeded to score 16 more unanswered runs with the bulk coming in the second (6 runs) and fourth (9 runs) innings.

Eight different Tiger batters recorded a hit in the game with five players tallying multiple. In addition to Bulthuis and Hudson's combined six RBIs, Gunnar Pullins drove in four runs off of a double in the second inning as a triple in the fourth. Other extra-base hits included Alex Ortiz's triple and doubles from Louis, Hudson, and Robert Jackman.

On the mound, Ethan Underwood tossed his fourth complete game of the year allowing only three hits and one run. Underwood struck out five batters bringing his total on the season to 31 and his fourth game this year striking out five or more faced.


GAME 2: ONU 9, TCC 1

ONU played as the visitors for the second game of the doubleheader. Jacob Bulthuis put the ball in play to score Kai Hudson off an errant through from the TCC third baseman to score first in the second inning. The Tigers went on to score in the final four consecutive innings putting up eight unanswered.

Robert Jackman went 3-4 in the contest which included two doubles and two RBIs. Alex Ortiz had his second consecutive game with a multi-base hit in the sixth inning. Bulthuis hit his third triple of the year in the seventh inning which scored Hudson.

Nolan Belschner took the mound for the Purple and gold pitching a shutout in the first six innings of the contest. Belschner gave up only six hits, one run, and one walk while striking out four. The junior right-handed pitcher now has two complete games to his name this spring.

The Tigers' scheduled series finale at Trinity Christian has been postponed due to the weather forecast. Their next scheduled contests are Wednesday, March 30 as they travel to St. Ambrose for a doubleheader. Game one is slated to start at 1 p.m. CST with game two following at 4 p.m. CST.
