ONU TAKES DOWN CALUMET IN THREE SETS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team snapped its modest four-match losing streak with a 25-11, 25-20, 25-18 home win over Calumet Saturday night in McHie Arena.

The Tigers set the tone early, collecting 17 kills against just two hitting errors for a sparkling .469 hitting average, in the opening set. The Crimson Wave managed just six kills in that first set.

Kills from five different Tigers and a service ace from Breanna Lamie to open the match had the Purple & Yellow Gold up 11-2 right out of the gate. Sabrina Sanif put down three kills in that stretch, and she later recorded her fourth kill of the set to make it 23-7. Kills from Halle Nicholas and Ella Johnson wrapped up the dominant opening set.

Calumet (0-15, 0-6 CCAC) battled back in the second set, even rallying for a 13-12 lead midway through. But an Alyssa Russow kill ignited a four-point ONU spurt that was capped off by a Kaylee Cozen - Kaitlyn Kolb block to put the Tigers in front for good. The third set was never in doubt as the Tigers got back in the win column with the straight-set victory.

Eleven different Tigers recorded a kill in the big win, led by Sanif with seven. Nicholas, Johnson, and Ava Smith each put away five kills. Cozen and Kolb recorded four apiece. Ema Zula and Naomi Monney-Hori finished with two kills. Kelsey Todd, Kate Worthy, Emma Edmonds, and Russow were all credited with a kill, as well.

Johnson led the team with nine assists. Worthy had eight. Lamie picked up a team-leading nine digs and Sanif led the team with a pair of service aces.

The Tigers will look to string together a win streak when they host Judson next Saturday in McHie Arena.
