BALANCED ATTACK LEADS TIGERS TO BIG WIN AT CALUMET

WHITING, Ind. – A total of 11 Tigers recorded at least one kill to lift the Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-17, 25-17 straight-set victory over Calumet Thursday evening in the Rittenmeyer Center.

ONU wasted no time taking control of the match, putting away 16 kills against just one hitting error for a dazzling .517 hitting percentage to easily claim the first set. The Tigers also got it done at the net, limiting the Crimson Wave to six kills and five errors.

A late run in the second set allowed the Tigers to take a two-sets-to-none advantage. Leading by two at 17-15, ONU pieced together an 8-2 scoring run to claim the second. Kills from Ava Smith and Sabrina Sanif capped off the big run to put the Tigers in the driver's seat.

The Crimson Wave (0-21, 0-12 CCAC) put forth the best effort in the third set, racing out to claim a three-point lead at 101-8 midway through.

But an errant CCSJ attack allowed the Tigers to rally for seven unanswered points. And when Kaitlyn Kolb put down back-to-back kills to cap the spurt, ONU was up 15-11. The Tigers led comfortably from there.

Kolb led the plethora of Tigers in the kills category with seven. Sanif, Kelsey Todd, and Naomi Monney-Hori each recorded five. Halle Nicholas chipped in four. Smith, Analiese Fredin, and Ella Johnson all tabbed three. Tatum tallied two while Sara Serafimova and Emma Edmonds were both credited with a kill.

Fredin, the reigning CCAC Setter of the Week, led the match with 26 assists while adding nine digs. Serafimova anchored the back row with 12 digs.

ONU (9-16, 5-6 CCAC) will return to McHie Arena Tuesday night to host Governors State.
