TIGERS KEEP ROLLING WITH SENIOR-NIGHT WIN

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – On a night when the Tigers recognized five seniors, the Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team kept rolling with a 26-28, 25-21, 25-13, 25-15 win over Calumet Thursday night in McHie Arena.

The Tigers fought off three set points in a competitive first set. Halle Nicholas and Molly Kurtz each put down a kill to extend the set, but Calumet (6-14, 4-8 CCAC) ultimately had the answer, coming up with the final two points to take the opener.

In the second, ONU used a late rally to even the match. Trailing 19-18, Nicholas and Hadleigh Loitz put down back-to-back kills to take a lead they would hold on to for the remainder of the set. Nicholas went back-to-back once again, this time with Kaylee Cozen, to tie the match at one set apiece.

The Tigers found their rhythm in the third set. ONU did little wrong, putting down 13 kills to just three errors for a sizzling .357 hitting percentage to cruise to a double-digit victory.

That momentum carried into the fourth set as ONU closed out the match on a nine-point scoring run. Malia Harris notched three services during the spurt and Nicholas put down her 14th kill of the match to finish it off.

Three Tigers hit double figures in kills; Nicholas led the team with her 14, Cozen put down 11 and Kurtz secured 10. Kaitlyn Kolb had eight, Loitz finished with three, and Anna Taylor and Sabrina Sanif each contributed a pair.

Loitz led all players with 35 digs. She also picked up 11 digs. Sara Serafimova finished with a game-high and career-best 35 digs.

The Tigers, now 10-11 overall and 7-4 in conference action, sit in a tie for third place in the CCAC standings alongside Saint Xavier. They will look to pick up their fourth-straight conference win with a road game at Governors State next Tuesday.
