ONU HOLDS ON TO DOWN LAKERS 5-4

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Completing the postponed contest from March 29, the Olivet Nazarene University softball team kept their perfect start in conference play intact after downing Roosevelt 5-4 Saturday afternoon.

The game got out to a tough start for ONU, with the Lakers quickly putting up four unanswered runs to have the Tigers in a 4-0 hole early.

Megan Mann ignited a big inning in the bottom of the third when she lifted an RBI single to left field. Avery Osborn then cleared the bases with a two-RBI double to put ONU within one.

The Tigers tacked on two more runs to take the lead in the bottom of the fourth, thanks to a Faith Mikos RBI double and a Gwen Bender sacrifice fly, before the game was postponed due to darkness.

The game then picked up in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Tigers leading 5-4. Neither team got on the scoreboard during the resumed play to nail down the win for ONU.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Tigers will take on Saint Xavier in a makeup doubleheader tomorrow afternoon in Chicago, Ill. The first game is set to start at 12 p.m. CST.
