BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Completing the postponed contest from March 29, the Olivet Nazarene University softball team kept their perfect start in conference play intact after downing Roosevelt 5-4 Saturday afternoon.
The game got out to a tough start for ONU, with the Lakers quickly putting up four unanswered runs to have the Tigers in a 4-0 hole early.
Megan Mann ignited a big inning in the bottom of the third when she lifted an RBI single to left field. Avery Osborn then cleared the bases with a two-RBI double to put ONU within one.
The Tigers tacked on two more runs to take the lead in the bottom of the fourth, thanks to a Faith Mikos RBI double and a Gwen Bender sacrifice fly, before the game was postponed due to darkness.
The game then picked up in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Tigers leading 5-4. Neither team got on the scoreboard during the resumed play to nail down the win for ONU.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Tigers will take on Saint Xavier in a makeup doubleheader tomorrow afternoon in Chicago, Ill. The first game is set to start at 12 p.m. CST.
