STREAK SNAPPED IN FOUR-SET LOSS AT CALUMET

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team saw its longest winning streak in nearly two years come to an end in a 3-1 loss at Calumet Saturday afternoon. The Tigers' four-match winning streak was snapped in an 18-25, 23-25, 25-16, 22-25 setback.

The Tigers quickly fell into a 2-0 hole to open the match, but they had their opportunity in the second set. Tied 14-14, ONU used the serving of Malia Harris to run off four straight points, then Sabrina Sanif put down a kill and Kaylee Cozen housed a solo block to have ONU up 23-21 late. But Calumet (4-8, 3-4 CCAC) rattled off four straight of their own to steal the set.

With their backs against the wall, ONU turned it on in the third set. Leading 12-9, the Tigers secured seven of the next nine points to take a commanding lead. Kelsey Todd and Sanif teamed for a block and Sara Serafimova sealed the set with a service ace to get ONU on the board.

Both teams traded points in a competitive fourth set that saw eight ties and three lead changes. Halle Nicholas and Cozen roofed a block to knot the set at 22-22, but the Crimson Wave put together three points in a row to take the match.

Nicholas was the lone Tiger to reach double-digit kills, finishing with 14. Todd notched eight and Cozen put down six. Molly Kurtz and Sanif recorded five kills each.

Hadleigh Loitz secured her second double-double in as many games, tallying 32 assists and 13 digs. Serafimova also finished with 13 digs. Harris tabbed two service aces.

The Tigers will look to get back on track with a home match against Judson on Saturday, Oct. 7. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. CST.
