DESPITE QUICK START, TIGERS DROP MATCH AT SAINT X

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team continued their CCAC campaign with a road match at Saint Xavier. Despite picking up the first set in dominant fashion, the Tigers would drop their first conference match of the year to the Cougars.

The first set was all ONU. Efforts from two of the reigning CCAC Players of the Week got the Tigers on top early; Halle Nicholas put away two quick kills early were followed up by a Brianna Cannon ace to give ONU a five-point advantage, which quickly ballooned to double-digits after eight Tigers put away points. ONU would lead the opening set from start to finish, closing it out 25-13.

The Tigers battled through some adversity in the second set. After falling behind 10-4, ONU strung together six-straight points, capped by an electric block from Kaylee Cozen and Kaitlyn Kolb, to even the score. Both squads would tie the score back-and-forth a total of nine times, up until the 21-all point where Saint Xavier would tack down four-straight points to close out the set and even the match score.

The final two sets were tough for ONU, with Saint Xavier being able to find key points and create scoring runs that would keep the game out of reach for the Tigers. ONU would drop the third and fourth sets at 25-19 and 25-16 scores, respectively, to hand the Tigers their first loss in the CCAC.
