JOHNSON, BOEHNE, AND SMITS GARNER CCAC ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) announced on Monday morning its selections for the women's basketball honor roll.  Olivet Nazarene University saw three players named to the All-Conference honor roll, for the second-straight season.  Kennedy Johnson and Caroline Boehne earned second team honors, while Karina Smits was awarded Honorable Mention honors. 

 

A native of Romulus, Mich., Johnson earned her second All-CCAC selection after earning first team accolades last season. On the season, the Tiger guard led the team averaging 13.1 points a game and notched 182 assists.  Her 182 assists were also good for first in the NAIA. Additionally, Johnson tallied 74 steals, and 92 total rebounds.  Johnson also scored in double-figures in 22 games, scored 20 or more points in six contests, and posted a double-double against Judson on February 9th. In her career, Johnson ranks second all-time in program history with 558 assists, 19th with 210 steals, and 25th with 1,118 points. 

 

A native of Centralia, Ill., Boehne had a strong season for the Tigers.  The Tiger forward was second on the team scoring 12.5 points game and was the team leader with 9.5 rebounds a contest. Boehne grabbed an NAIA second-best 170 offensive boards.  The senior for the purple and gold tallied nine double-doubles, which led the team and was recognized as a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.  This is the first All-Conference nod for Boehne and this season, she broke the single-season rebound record with 293 boards.  In her career, Boehne ranks fifth in total rebounds with 707.    

 

A native of Pewaukee, Wis., Smits garnered her second-consecutive All-CCAC Honorable Mention selection.  The Tiger three-point sharpshooter was second in the NAIA with 103 three-pointers and third on the team with 12.2 points a game.  Smits added 65 rebounds, 36 steals, and marked 23 games of scoring in double-figures, including marking 10 or more points in 17 of her final 19 games.  In her career, Smits ranks fifth all-time with 307 threes', eighth with a 78.7% free throw percentage, and 28th in points with 1,063. 

 

The Tigers finished their season with a record of 20-11 including going 16-6 in the CCAC.
