VERSAILLES, Mo. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball team travelled to Versailles High School for the Central Methodist University Tournament on Friday.
Game One: RV Bellevue 14, Olivet Nazarene 5
The Tigers are the first to crack the scoreboard in the first game of the day. In the first inning, Terry Daniels (SR/Auburn, N.Y.) led off the game with a single and advanced to second on a groundout. With one out, Braedon Payne (JR/Avon, Ind.) knocked in Daniels by doubling to right center. Later in the inning, with Payne on second, Jordan Veldman (SO/Mahomet, Ill.) drove him in on a single up-the-middle making the score 2-0.
Bellevue then took the lead in the next two innings on an RBI double and a two-run homer making the score , 3-2 , going into the bottom of the third. In the bottom of the third, the Tigers took the lead on a two-run homer to deep center off the bat of Jacob Bulthuis (SR/Tinley Park, Ill.) as the Tigers retook the lead at 4-3.
The Bruins then took the lead marking five runs in the top of the 4th, making the score 8-4. In the bottom half of the inning, the Tigers try to cut into the Bruin lead. Nathan Moonen (SR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a Nolan Louis (SO/Alachua, Fla.) single. After Timo Schau (SR/Chicago, Ill.) walked to load the bases, Daniels hit in Moonen on a sacrifice fly making the score 8-5.
That is closest ONU got to Bellevue, as the Bruins struck for four in the fifth and one run in the sixth and seventh to knock off the Tigers 14-5.

Game Two: No. 10 Central Methodist 9, Olivet Nazarene 0
The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the bottom of the first inning on a solo home run. The Eagles then extended their lead at the bottom of the second on a fielder's choice. The Eagles led 2-0. Central Methodist added six runs in the third and one in the fifth to take a 9-0 lead.
Bulthuis, Schau, and Payne all recorded hits in the contest as the Tigers fell 9-0 to the Eagles.
