TIGERS SIT AT THE TOP OF THE CCAC AFTER DEFEATING CSU 3-1
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer team took sole possession of first place in the CCAC standings after defeating Cardinal Stritch 3-1 Saturday night. ON fell behind early but scored three unanswered goals including a goal and an assist from freshman Melea Miller.
ONU fought off a relentless CSU offense in the first period of the match. The Wolves took the early lead off a corner kick in the 15th minute. Miller and Gomes entered the field at the 14:48-mark for an immediate impact. 2:26 ran off the clock when the Tigers leveled the score. Gomes swung in a cross to the near post where Miller could put the final finish. Cardinal Stritch created a number of opportunities to regain the lead as two of their 17 shot attempts hit the woodwork. Tessa Kowalski kept the game level with five saves in the first half.

Momentum swung the Tigers' way in the second period as they attempted nine shots compared to just three in the first half. Sara Loichinger and Abbey Cash worked a set-piece play. The senior defender lofted a ball over the Stritch netminder to stretch the side netting in the 66th minute. ONU put the game to bed with a counter attack in the 86th minute leading to Olivet's third goal. Miller led the break and forced a save allowing Keely Francis to pick up the rebound for a close-range finish.
