WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD COMPETED IN THE USF FIGHTING CHANCE INVITE ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
JOLIET, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's track and field traveled to Joliet Memorial Stadium for its final tune-up before the NAIA National Championships and competed in the USF Fighting Chance Invite on Friday and Saturday. The Tigers earned multiple "A" and "B" qualifying standards throught the two-day meet.
The Tigers early success in the track events starting with the 100-meter dash. Kimberly Brent finished third in the race, in the finals, but ran the fastest time in prelims with a time of 11.97 seconds, which is good for a "B" qualifying standard. The Tigers then placed three in the top six positions in the 200-meter dash. Olivia Sturrup finished as the race's runner-up with a time of 24.82, which is good for a "B" qualifying standard. Brent and Tera Miller finished fifth and sixth in the race. Miller then followed that up with achieving the "B" qualifying standard in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.01 seconds.
In the 100-hurdles, Linda Griffith placed second with a time of 14.63 seconds, while Hannah Antkoviak finished fourth in the event. Both Griffith and Antkoviak already qualified with an "A" standard earlier this season. In the 400-hurdles, Griffith won the event and ran the fifth fastest time in the NAIA with a time of 1:01.96, which is also good for an "A" qualifying standard.
In the field events, Madeleine Robinson continues her dominance in the shot put as she won the event with a final mark of 14.45m. That mark is good for an "A" qualifying standard and she is still fourth in the nation in the event. In the discus, Kayla Mikottis and Courtney Hall both placed in the top four. Mikottis placed second with a mark of 39.80m while Hall was fourth with a mark of 39.50m. In the hammer, Hall finished as the runner-up with a final mark of 49.48m, which is good for a "B" qualifying standard and is currently 21st in the nation. To conclude the field events, Avery Spencer placed third in the javelin with a final mark of 39.00m, which is good for a "B" qualifying standard.
