Tigers Fall in Final Non-Conference Match over Cornerstone, 2-1

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet Nazarene women's soccer team dropped their final non-conference match on the road to the Cornerstone University Golden Eagles, 2-1. A second half push for the equalizer was not to be as the Tigers fall to 0-4-1 on the season entering Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play this weekend.

The Golden Eagles of Cornerstone took the lead 15 minutes into the match when Kylie Adams carried the ball down the right sideline and tucked her shot on goal near post. Olivet responded 14 seconds later to draw level as Kara Jacobs picked out Katie Knutte darting into the box for the toe-poke finish. Cornerstone regained the lead in at the 29:02 mark from a goal by Julie Gouilliart assisted by Adams. The Tigers fought off eight shot attempts, all on goal, from going down further before the intermission.

Halftime: Cornerstone 2, Olivet Nazarene 1

ONU ramped up the pressure in the second half looking for the equalizer as they outshot the Golden Eagles, 7-4. Olivia Lorenc was close at the 55th minute when her strike caromed off the crossbar. The best opportunity came by the way of Camille Cote. She was on the end of Teagon Albert's set-piece that found its way into the back of the net but was called back for offsides. The match was all one way from then on as Olivet held the advantage in corner kicks at 3-0 and was called offsides 5 times to Cornerstone's 0 in the second period but without a payoff goal to extend the match.
