FOUR UNANSWERED SCORES TOPPLES No. 23 TROLLS

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer team overcame a two-goal deficit in the first half to upset the No. 23 Trinity Christian Trolls 4-3 on the road Wednesday evening. The Tigers scored four unanswered goals and held off the Trolls' late comeback run to improve to 4-4-1 on the season, remaining undefeated in conference play, and handing Trinity Christian their first loss of the year.

Trinity Christian started the match looking dangerous on the attack. They attempted and landed the first three shots of the contest on frame forcing Samantha Tuuk into the action early. Their pressure paid off as The Trolls' Kara Amidon took a half-chance volley and looped it over the head of the Tiger netminder to open the scoring in the 25th minute. Trinity doubled their advantage 11 minutes later with a goal credited to Mia Salas. When it appeared TCC held all the momentum, Marissa Anderson snatch a goal against the run of play by way of Abbey Cash's corner kick to cut the lead in half six minutes before halftime.

Halftime: No. 23 Trinity Christian 2, Olivet Nazarene 1

Anderson's first-half spark was enough to jumpstart the Tiger offense. Olivet came out of the intermission and put three consecutive scores past Trinity. Kaylee Evers tied up the match in the 59th minute assisted by Katie Knutte, followed by Annabel Murley's goal, assisted by Teagon Albert, eight minutes later to take their first lead of the game. The Trolls had late opportunities for an equalizer, but the Tigers broke out on a counter-attack culminating in Keeley Francis finding Knutte at the far post for the final touch to extend the lead to two at the 88:23 mark. When the match seemed to be in hand, Trinity Christian gave it one last go and scored 40 seconds later to bring it back to a one-goal contest. A few nervy final seconds were played out before the final whistle was blown.
