CoSIDA RECOGNIZES ANDERSON AS A FIRST TEAM ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM MEMBER
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Marissa Anderson, a junior defender from Shorewood, Ill., has been named to the 2021 Academic All‐District® Women's Soccer Team announced on Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Players honored with this award are selected by CoSIDA recognizing the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Off the field, Anderson currently holds a 3.75 cumulative grade point studying Engineering, while on the field started and played in all 19 matches. The ONU captain registered four goals and two assists this season and played a crucial role in the Tigers finishing fourth in the CCAC regular season to host the first round of the conference tournament. While Anderson anchored the backline contributing to six clean sheets, she did get forward in the attack highlighted with a five-point performance against Indiana Northwest on Sep. 11. In that match, she tallied two goals (including the game-winner) and doled out an assist.
Marissa Anderson will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second- and third‐team Academic All‐America® honorees will be announced in early December.
