BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene women's soccer team dropped their home opener to No. 20 Southeastern University Fire 2-0 Wednesday night at Snowbarger Athletic Complex. SEU scored both goals within the first 30 minutes of the match.
Sara Loichinger made her first appearance since the 2020 season due to injury. The senior midfielder looked to make her mark early taking three shots toward the goal in the opening 10 minutes. Against the run of play, the Fire struck first as Naira Lopez hit the back of the net for the first of her two goals at the 11:03-mark. It took 11 minutes for the SEU midfielder to complete her brace and double her team's advantage. Despite outshooting the visitors 10-8, the Tigers went into the break trailing 2-0.

ONU looked to get back into the game in the second half. Southeastern locked up defensively allowing only two shots in the last 45 minutes. The best opportunity for the Tigers came from a drawn-up set play with Alaina Bahr picking out Katie Knutte but only for the SEU goalkeeper to make the save from close range. In the 86th minute, Kaylee Evers found space inside the opposition penalty box but could not find a corner to get on the scoreboard. Time expired as Olivet went on the lose their first game of the year 2-0
