RV TIGERS WINNING STREAK SNAPPED BY SXU
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The RV Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer program had their six-game winning streak snapped by the Saint Xavier University Cougars 1-0 Wednesday night. An early goal in the first half by SXU proved to be the difference in the match.
The Cougars threw first punch in the match scoring in the 16th minute of play. Neida Ocampo took full advantage of an ONU turnover in the defensive third of the field and fired a shot past the Tiger netminder for the 1-0 lead. The Purple and Gold settled down and created opportunities searching for the equalizer. ONU held the 9-5 advantage in shots with five hitting the target. Kaylee Evers and Abbey Cash each attributed three shots. SXU carried the one-goal advantage into the locker room.
Halftime: RV Olivet Nazarene 0, Saint Xavier 1
The Tigers cranked up the pressure in the second period outshooting the visitors 10-0. SXU stood firm defensively allowing only one of the shots to be on target.
