WHITE TABBED AS FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR AS TIGERS PLACE SECOND AT CCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

CHANNAHON, Ill.Catherine White capped her outstanding freshman season with some hardware as she led the Olivet Nazarene University women's cross country team to a runner-up finish at the CCAC Championships Saturday morning.

White was the top freshman finisher at 18:57.9, earning the CCAC Freshman of the Year for 2022. White placed fourth-overall, with Jacey Schickel finishing right behind her in fifth at 19:03.4. Eleanor Fournier and Lauren Smith crossed the finish line together to place 10th and 11th, respectively. Heidi Heldt rounded out the scoring for the Tigers with an All-Conference finish, placing 15th at 20:20.9.

The Tigers tallied 44 total points to place second overall at the CCAC Championships. St. Francis (Ill.) defended their title with 20 points.

WHATS NEXT?

White, Schickel and Fournier have claimed their spot in the NAIA Championships as thrre of the top-four individuals that were not on the championship team St. Francis (Ill.). The ONU women's cross country team will have to wait and see if they receive an at-large bid to nationals.
