TIGERS EDGED BY CORNERSTONE TO OPEN SPRING SEASON
PARK FOREST, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's tennis team opened up their spring schedule at the Park Forest Tennis Club on Saturday against the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University. The Golden Eagles edged the Tigers, 6-4.
The Tigers got off to a good start in the doubles play. The team of Francisco Faria and Jonathan Hentschel and Brian Victoria Ayala and Carlo Cota Vargas both won their matches, 6-3. The Tigers took the first point of the match. In singles play, Faria cruised to a straight sets win, 6-2, 6-2, to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. After three straight losses for ONU, Victoria Ayala put the Tigers back in the win column with a win in three sets and deadlocked the score at three all.
The Golden Eagles won the final match of the day and defeated the Tigers, 4-3.
