
CORRO, MURPHY HELP ONU SWEEP CCAC MEN’S BASKETBALL WEEKLY AWARDS
CHICAGO, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University's Caleb Corro and Daniel Murphy have swept the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week awards for the week ending Dec. 8, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Corro was named the CCAC Offensive Player of the Week after posting back-to-back 21-point performances and shooting 51.9 percent from the field (14-of-27) in a pair of split decisions.
The junior guard opened the week by connecting on 8-of-14 shots from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, in a 74-62 setback to University of St. Francis on Wednesday. That was followed by Corro making all nine of his free throws and 6-of-13 shots overall in guiding the Tigers to a 91-75 win over Judson University on Saturday. In the latter affair, he also registered three assists, one steal and one rebound.
Murphy, meanwhile, was a theft artist en route to CCAC Defensive Player of the Week accord. He totaled 11 steals in ONU's two games, while also securing 11 rebounds (nine defensive), six assists, one block and 30 points.
The senior guard gained seven of his steals in the loss to St. Francis, where he also recorded 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting, six rebounds, one block and one assist. On Saturday, he converted eight of his 12 shots for 16 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Olivet Nazarene is 2-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
