Tigers Upset No. 12 Indiana Tech

WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball team started its series with No. 12 Indiana Tech, winning, 5-2, at Grand Park on Friday Afternoon.

In the first four innings, both teams were unable to crack the scoring column, but the Tigers and the Warriors amassed three hits apiece and left plenty of runners on base. Starting pitcher Ethan Underwood (SO/Woodstock, Ga.) already struck out four batters. The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the fifth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Terry Daniels (SR/Auburn, N.Y.) roped a single up-the-middle to drive in Timo Schau (SR/Chicago, Ill.) and Jordan Veldman (SO/Mahomet, Ill.).

The Tigers added another run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Jacob Bulthuis (SR/Tinley Park, Ill.) making the score 3-0. The Warriors inched closer in the bottom of the eighth picking up a pair of runs making the score 3-2. The Tigers then countered with two of their own in the top of the ninth inning on a two-run single by Buthuis making the score 5-2.

Relief pitcher Ryan Jemar (SO/Bourbonnais, Ill.) picked up the last three outs in the bottom of the ninth as the Tigers seal a 5-2 victory over the Warriors.
