Tigers takedown Judson in first of three game series

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Starting off their three-game series with Judson, the Tigers picked up a win in a low-scoring affair. Ethan Underwood (SO/Woodstock, Ga.) claimed the victory from the mound and Graham Burke (SR/Victoria, Minn.) came in to secure the save while giving up no hits.

The Tigers grabbed the opening run in the third inning when Ryan Russman (SO/Wheaton, Ill.) singled to score Timo Schau (SR/Chicago, Ill.). Schau was able to get on base after a chopper to second was difficult to handle. Then he struck more luck when the catcher had a wild throw on his steal attempt, which allowed him to advance to third before later scoring.

Another run in the fourth inning came in the form of a K.C. Isenberg (JR/Jacksonville, Fla.) double. He drove in Gunnar Pullins (JR/Valparaiso, Ind.), pinch-running for the catcher Tyler Wheeler (JR/Graham, Wash.) after being hit by a pitch. Then in the top of the seventh inning, the Tigers yielded their first run of the game, but the pitching combination of Ethan Underwood and Graham Burke got the Tigers out of the inning with their lead still intact. In the bottom of the seventh, Nolan Louis (SO/Alachua, Fla.) hit a solo home run to pull ahead by two runs again. This score would stand as Burke finished off the game on the mound and struck out three of the seven batters he faced.
