SCHMIDT MAKES ONU HISTORY, WINS THIRD-CONSECUTIVE CCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CHICAGO, Ill. --- Olivet Nazarene University's Tyler Schmidt (Valparaiso, Ind.) has done it again.  The junior guard has claimed Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the third time in a row, the league office announced on Tuesday. This is the first time in ONU men's basketball history that a player has claimed three-consecutive CCAC Player of the Week awards.

Schmidt just missed out on a triple-double in his only game of the week during the seven-day period ending Nov. 27, a 97-80 victory over Indiana University Northwest last Tuesday.  Instead, he had to settle for triple season-high numbers in points (34), rebounds (15) and assists (eight).

Schmidt shot 52.6 percent from the field (10-of-19) in the contest, which included a red-hot 6-of-8 mark from beyond the three-point arc.  He also converted eight of his 10 free throw attempts.

Schmidt, who has scored 29 or more points in each of his last three games, currently leads the conference in scoring, while ranking fourth in the nation with his 25.3 average.

Olivet Nazarene is the only unbeaten in the league at 3-0.  Overall, the Tigers are 6-1.
